Kuchh mithi mithi baate,
Ek nazuk ada,
Kuchh masti kuchh maza,
Thodi si shrarat,
Bahut sari mohabbat,
Ek bholi si muskan,
Sabse alag sabse juda,
Jiski hai pyari har ek ada…

a short account of my vacation!!

Apprehension-when I told my friends I was flying on Friday 13th you can imagine the reaction!!Well my train of thought was that if my time was going to be up at least I will nearer in the clouds then on the ground!!
Excitement-Waking up at dawn when half the world is sleeping, hustle bustle of airport , checking in and finally boarding the flight and for sure we were finally on our way to the vacation.
Arrival-landed Skiathos -Greece to be greeted with lovely sunshine and blue skies, after a speedy baggage reclaim and a short drive away we were at our hotel.
Pleasantly surprised-We were rapidly checked into the most beautiful sea facing rooms on the ground floor, well furnished and equipped ,french doors opening onto a sea view……. wow spectacular.
Dawn-being gently woken by the sounds of the gentle waves lapping on the sea shore and beautiful sunshine streaming through the french windows.
Beach-although a shingle beach it was clean and the water was crystal clear and surprisingly calm,After the initial hesitation at the coolness ,it was glorious to swim in it and very refreshing at the temperatures on the beach were soaring to 35 degrees. Hot!!!
Pool– a nice clean lagoon shaped pool surrounded by lush green gardens. Just laying on the inflatable lilos was heaven. The water was cool and refreshing after the scorching mid day sun.
Relaxing -on the sunbeds under the sun parasols ,just listening to my favorite numbers on my ipod , reading and just enjoying the sounds of the sea and the cool sea breeze, this was the height of sheer pleasure for me!!….What more can anyone wish for???
Evening-after a relaxing day on the beach, it was nice to dress for dinner and enjoy a beautiful candlelit dinner on the beachfront restaurant, overlooking the empty beach, watching the distant boats in the horizon and watching the sun go down.
Nightlife-a short watertaxi ride of some 15 mins took us to Skiathos town where the nightlife was taking shape, inundated with bars ,restaurants and two nightclubs there was plenty of entertainment for all.
Harbour-the old harbour had thefishing boats, cobbled streets and local greeks, it was full of culture and has a very greek atmosphere, in contrast the new harbour was docked with luxury yatchs belonging to the rich and famous and had a very cosmopolitan feel…. a definate contrast between the two.
Romance-a quiet walk hand in hand on the beach, laughing, joking , the blushing sky kissing the sunkist horizon, the lap of the waves as they tickled your bare feet on the sand……… This is what I call heaven!!!
Indulgence-desserts,cakes ,pastries oh wow the choice was enormous but for me ice cream, icecream and more icecream …..oh boy did I indulge!! ….But then what are holidays for????
Sad-like always all good things come to an end ,soon we were packing, our glorious week in the sun was coming to an end.
Frustration-arrived at the airport to be told there were flight delays due to torrential rain in the UK.Oh well atleast we were in greece for a few hours more, to savour the last minute sunshine and top up our tans!!
Home sweet home-arrived tired and cold to a damp and very wet UK, however to a welcoming surprise….. a my fridge stocked up with all my favorite things and dinner on the table. God bless sisters who are really angels in disguise!!!

NEVER GO TO HR FOR HELP!!!

This was an email forward which I just had to share, hope you enjoy it.

After 3 years of selfless service, a man realized that he has not been promoted, no transfer, no salary increase no commendation and that the Company is not doing any thing about it. So he decided to walk up to his HR Manager one morning and after exchanging greetings,

He told his HR Manager his observation. The boss looked at him, laughed and asked him to sit down saying; My friend, you have not worked here for even one day.

The man was surprised to hear this, but the manager went on to explain.

Manager:- How many days are there in a year?

Man:- 365 days and some times 366

Manager:- how many hours make up a day?

Man:- 24 hours

Manager:- How long do you work in a day?

Man:- 8am to 4pm. i.e. 8 hours a day.

Manager:- So, what fraction of the day do you work in hours?

Man:- (He did some arithmetic and said 8/24 hours i.e. 1/3(one third)

Manager:- That is nice of you! What is one-third of 366 days?

Man:- 122 (1/3×366 = 122 in days)

Manager:- Do you come to work on weekends?

Man:- No sir

Manager:- How many days are there in a year that are weekends?

Man:- 52 Saturdays and 52 Sundays equals to 104 days

Manager:- Thanks for that. If you remove 104 days from 122 days, how many days do you now have?

Man:- 18 days.

Manager:- OK! I do give you 2 weeks sick leave every year. Now remove that 14 days from the 18 days left. How many days do you have remaining?

Man:- 4 days

Manager:- Do you work on New Year day?

Man:- No sir!

Manager:- Do you come to work on workers day?

Man:- No sir!

Manager:- So how many days are left?

Man:- 2 days sir!

Manager:- Do you come to work on the (National holiday )?

Man:- No sir!

Manager:- So how many days are left?

Man:- 1 day sir!

Manager:- Do you work on Christmas day?

Man:- No sir!

Manager:- So how many days are left?

Man:- None sir!

Manager:- So, what are you claiming?

Man:- I have understood, Sir. I did not realize that I was stealing Company money all these days.

Moral: NEVER GO TO HR FOR HELP!!!

Skiathos-Greece-ISLAND IN THE SUN….

The island of Skiathos near Athens -Greece. It has an area of 48 sq. km, a coastline of 44 km and a population of only  4,200. Luxury hotels ,lovely sand beaches, tourist are all part of Skiathos .It is  one of the most cosmopolitan and beautiful islands   in Greece despite being the smallest.

During the day, you can enjoy hanging around  its narrow alleys, which are filled with vitality every summer. And for nightlife, a large number of clubs, pubs, bars and discotheques are waiting for your night amusement. For the sun lovers beautiful beaches stretch for miles on end.

Ok you may be wondering why I am writing about this place ,well its because thats my holiday destination this year.I hope to enjoy the historical features of this island together with the beautiful sun,sea and sand.
