ummm ok guys you will all be wondering why I am posting a second post dedicated to srk??? Well I’ll tell you why….. after another friend saw the previous post, he sent me this srk wallpaper too so I thought “itne pyaar  sey bheja hai” toh why not give it prime place in my blog!!!

Old endings and new beginnings,

A year older , a year wiser!!!

 

12.01 am: My day full of surprises began at midnight. A sudden bleep and the arrival of a sms text message from my best friend in India!! Under normal circumstances I would have moaned at such intrusion whilst in dreamland but today was an exception!!! After reading the message  bleary eyed and full of joy I enjoyed more wishes from my nearest and dearest ie my hubby and toddled back to dream land. Come on even angels need to recharge their batteries and get their beauty sleep!!.

6.30 am I was awoken with a kiss and a steaming cup of my favourite masala tea and a chorus of birthday song.

 

6.40 Still bleary eyed I was surrounded with gifts of all shapes and sizes, ballons and even cake. I  spent the next half hour opening all the cards and pressies.

 

7.10 Time to get up and shower before the school run but more surprises were in store, hubby announced that it was my day off no chores so he had taken day off from work and I was to be lady of leisure for the entire day!! Wow this is wonderful I can get used to this.

 

7.15 Snuggled back to bed to get my lovely lie in!!!

 

8.30 Was woken up with another phone call my sister this time, more wishes!!

 

9.00 Showered and dressed the day was my own to spend with hubby.

 

10.00 Door bell rang more surprises as the interflora man delivered the most awesome bouquet of flowers from hubby!!

 

10.00-12.00. More phone calls and wishes and relaxing.

 

12.00 My sister came laden with lunch and presents and we enjoyed a lovely lunch.

 

1.30 Afternoon free to spend with hubby.

 

4.00 School run and family time.

 

5-7.00 Spent time with friends on net on a live pod cast and checking scraps, emails and messages.

It’s been the most wonderful day so far, many thanks to all my friends and family for making this day so very special. On a closing note I would like to say…..

 

A single candle can illuminate an entire room. True friends light up an entire lifetime. Thanks for the bright lights of your friendship.

 

 

Funny Bone.

Today at work I was going about my business as normal , when a colleague asked me to pass a document to them, as I stretched my arm to pass the document I banged my elbow on the top corner of my Pc screen.

The pain that it created was so excruciating it actually brought tears to my eyes. Who the hell in their right mind called that bone in the elbow the “funny bone” It was far from funny, the tingling ,the  pins and needles and the shock in my elbow was unbelievable. Not forgetting to mention of course the massive black and blue bruise on my right elbow.

Well one would expect some sympathy in this case, but far from it all I got was “you banged your funny bone why aren’t you laughing!!!”

Today is Shrove Tuesday, in the UK, is also known as Pancake Day (or Pancake Tuesday to some people) because it is the one day of the year when almost everyone eats a pancake

What is Pancake Day?

Pancake Day is the last day before the period which Christians call Lent It is traditional on this day to eat pancakes.

Why are Pancakes eaten on Shrove Tuesday?

Lent is a time of abstinence, of giving things up. So Shrove Tuesday is the last chance to indulge one self, and to use up the foods that aren’t allowed in Lent. Pancakes are eaten on this day because they contain fat, butter and eggs which were forbidden during Lent.

When is Shrove Tuesday (Pancake Day)?

Shrove Tuesday is celebrated the day before Ash Wednesday and is therefore the final day before the commencement of Lent a Christian festival leading up to Easter Sunday (Easter Day).

Shrove Tuesday always falls 47 days before Easter Sunday so the date varies from year to year and falls between 3 February and 9 March.

How to make pancakes:

Ingredients:

·         2 cups all-purpose flour, stirred or sifted before measuring

·         2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

·         1/2 teaspoon salt

·         1 egg, slightly beaten

·         1 1/2 cups milk

·         2 tablespoons melted butter

Preparation:

Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, combine egg and milk; add to flour mixture, stirring only until smooth. Blend in melted butter. Cook on a hot, greased griddle, using about 1/4 cup of batter for each pancake. Cook until brown on one side and around edge; turn and brown the other side. Recipe for pancakes serves 4.

Pancakes can be eaten with a sprinkling of sugar and a squeeze of lemon juice, or topped with honey or chopped fruit and cream or even chocolate spread.
